At a distance of 2 km from Nine Roads, the discovery of the magnificent tomb in Amphipolis, Serres, which has attracted the interest of foreign media, was made, especially after the - completely unsubstantiated - claims that this particular tumulus may have been the last residence of Alexander the Great.

In an article titled "Ancient Tomb in Greece Fuels Many Discussions", the Associated Press reports that "Greek websites are excited by the fact that the tomb of the 4th century BC warrior-king Alexander the Great may have been found, whom they have been searching for for several years and was thought to be in Egypt", the news agency reports.

Archaeologists who are conducting research at the Kasta site in Amphipolis have discovered a tomb 498 metres long and three metres high, which is almost ten times larger than that of Alexander's father, Philip, in Vergina. The tomb, which resembles a creation that would only be built for a very important person, has been externally clad with excellent quality marble, with particular harmony and symmetry.
